Parkland children will be getting some new playground improvements at Pine Trails Park.
During the July 8 meeting, the commission unanimously approved a resolution to purchase playground replacement equipment from Playmore West at the park for $106,367. It also approved a $70,000 contract with Essential Constructs for the installation of the equipment.
The replacement materials for the playground at Pine Trails Park are largely infrastructure material items that people won’t see but are required to support the equipment on which children play, according to Todd DeAngelis, spokesperson for Parkland.
In addition, the commission approved a resolution for a $92,000 contract with Playmore West to replace the nature play area at Covered Bridge Park. This area is in the eastern part of the park, adjacent to the parking area.
Features that are part of this replacement include a rock log, a four-foot half-log bench, a six-foot log balance beam, boulders, stone steppers, an arch rock climber, and a four-foot hollow log crawl.
“Outdoor playground features in our climate deteriorate over time. It is now time to replace that playground equipment. This not only ensures the safety of children who utilize it but also maximizes the play experience,” said DeAngelis.
