Marjory Stoneman Douglas Defensive End Nick Dobbs Commits to College

Nick Dobbs, who had the rare opportunity of playing varsity football for both Coral Glades and Marjory Stoneman Douglas, will now play college football with St. Thomas University after officially committing on Wednesday.

“I see the vision they have for the program and want to be a part of the group that really makes that vision a reality,” Dobbs said.

A resident of Coral Springs, Dobbs played three years for the Jaguars, including two years under Head Coach Cam Thomas before transferring to MSD in Parkland to play his senior year.

With four sacks and 31 tackles, Dobbs had his best season with Coral Glades as a junior.

“He was a great player and great leader,” said Coach Thomas. “One thing I teach my kids is that they are their own brand. He had to do what is best for his own brand, and he did that.”

Due to COVID, Dobbs only had the chance to play in two games with MSD but had two sacks, six tackles for a loss, and 16 total tackles helping him get this chance to play at the next level.

Head Coach Quentin Short loved what he saw in those two games and thinks his best football is ahead of him.

“He is a great young man,” Short. “I really enjoyed coaching him this past year, and I think he has a really bright future.”
