Theft
Petit Theft: On Sept. 23 at 1:39 a.m., an offender stole a donation box from Wawa, located at 7705 N. State Road 7. Surveillance video and affidavits were submitted as evidence. Estimated loss: $87.
Theft From Building: Between Sept. 22 and Sept. 26, two diamond rings valued at $140,000 were reported stolen from a Parkland residence. No forced entry was found. The victim suspects her longtime dog groomer. Estimated total loss: $11,030,000 (possible clerical error in report, but listed as such).
Battery
Battery: On Sept. 23, a man smashed half of a watermelon on a woman’s head during an altercation. The victim was not injured. The suspect was charged.
Domestic Battery: On Sept. 24, a custody dispute turned physical when an offender grabbed a woman by the arms, leaving bruises. He later met deputies and was arrested for domestic battery.
Battery/Domestic Disturbance: On Sept. 24, a juvenile female was arrested after a physical altercation with her mother over school performance and personal items.
Domestic Disturbances
Verbal Altercation: On Sept. 23, a mother argued with her adult son about eviction. Both agreed to separate, and the mother planned to seek eviction proceedings.
Domestic Disturbance (Non-Crime): On Sept. 28, a father and daughter argued verbally about an unlocked sliding glass door. No physical violence occurred.
Extortion/Blackmail
Online Scam: On Sept. 23, a male victim reported being blackmailed after sending explicit photos and videos to a woman online. The suspect demanded $300 to prevent sharing the media. No money or personal information was exchanged.
Criminal Mischief
Residence Vandalism: On Sept. 23, a Parkland family reported repeated bullying of their 17-year-old son and vandalism of their home, including egging.
Vandalism at Pine Trails Park: Between Sept. 27–28, a trash can and fire extinguisher were burned at Pine Trails Park (10555 Trails End). The City of Parkland is listed as the victim.
Auto Theft
Hit and Run/Stolen Vehicle: On Sept. 25 at 3:20 a.m., a stolen vehicle struck a parked SUV before fleeing. Community and personal property were damaged. No arrests made.
Threats/Intimidation
Threat at CVS: On Sept. 28, a CVS employee reported that a male customer made a threatening statement, making her feel uncomfortable.
Miscellaneous Incidents
Information/Wellness Check: Deputies responded to a Parkland address on Sept. 24 for a wellness check.
Information: On Sept. 24, a resident reported ongoing harassment involving a neighbor’s family since 2022.
Suspicious Incident: On Sept. 24, a man entered a community by walking through bushes.
Property Damage: On Sept. 24, damage was reported in the Tall Pines community.
Threat Assessment: On Sept. 25, a threat assessment was conducted on a student.
Baker Act: On Sept. 27, an individual at a bus stop met Baker Act criteria and was transported for treatment.
Lost Property: On Sept. 29, a resident reported losing his driver’s license.
Information/Medical Response: On Sept. 29, Coral Springs Fire Rescue responded to Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School after a staff member reported high blood pressure.
Arrests
Sept. 23: Johnel Jamar Weathers, 29, arrested at Wawa (7705 N. State Road 7) for petit theft.
Sept. 23: David Alexander Miltenberger, 46, arrested in Parkland for domestic battery.
Sept. 26: Cynthia Horgan Bushnell, 69, arrested near W. Hillsboro Blvd. and Everglades Way N. for DUI with property damage.
