The Broward County Sheriff’s Office in Parkland responded to various incidents between December 2 and December 8, 2025. Below is a detailed account of the incidents and arrests handled by local law enforcement.
Incidents
Battery – Road Rage (Dec. 2)
An adult female reported a head injury following a road rage incident between 7:45 and 8 a.m. The suspect, an unknown adult male driving a red Mercedes-Benz, battered the victim before fleeing.
Lost Property – School Audit (Dec. 2)
A school technologist conducting a yearly audit discovered 24 missing items. A report was filed for documentation purposes.
Theft – Watches Stolen (Between Oct. 12–Nov. 23)
A victim reported four stolen watches valued at $9,300. The theft was discovered on Dec. 2. The victim wishes to prosecute.
Domestic Battery (Dec. 2)
An adult male was accused of pulling an adult female victim from a vehicle doorway during a custody exchange. The victim was emotionally distressed but uninjured. Charges were filed.
Burglary Conveyance – Terramar Park (Dec. 2)
A vehicle hatch accidentally reopened after the victim removed items. A backpack containing valuables was stolen between 7–9 p.m. Estimated loss: $1,301.
Property Damage – Parkland Golf & Country Club (Dec. 3)
A gate bar at the community entrance struck a school bus after malfunctioning. No damage to the bus; minor damage to the gate bar.
Missing Juvenile (Dec. 3)
A juvenile was reported missing after home security video showed him leaving on a bicycle at 1:22 a.m. He was entered into the system as a missing person.
Identity Theft (Reported Dec. 3)
A resident reported an unauthorized Chase Amazon Visa credit card opened in her name.
Information – Medical Call at School (Dec. 3)
Fire rescue responded to a juvenile experiencing chest pains at Stoneman Douglas High School.
Baker Act – Drug Withdrawal & Suicidal Ideation (Dec. 3)
An adult male experiencing drug withdrawal symptoms expressed suicidal thoughts and was transported for evaluation under the Baker Act.
Information – Illegal Dumping (Dec. 3)
A mattress and couch cushions were dumped near the Watercrest guard gate. Maintenance removed the items.
Information – Commission Meeting Disruption (Dec. 3)
An adult female disrupted a Parkland Commission meeting and was escorted out after multiple outbursts.
Missing Juvenile – Possible Travel to Tennessee (Dec. 5)
A 15-year-old left home early in the morning. Not considered endangered; entered into the missing person system.
Death Investigation (Dec. 5)
A female victim was transported to Northwest Hospital, where she was pronounced deceased. The death was deemed natural.
Aggravated Assault – Domestic (Dec. 6)
During a breakup, a male offender pointed a firearm at his boyfriend and threatened to shoot him.
Information – Fraud Attempt (Dec. 6)
A resident received a scam call from someone posing as law enforcement claiming she had a warrant. She did not send money or meet the caller.
Battery – BJs Tire Center (Dec. 7)
An angry customer entered an employee-only area and slapped an employee before leaving. Surveillance video was uploaded as evidence.
Information – Possible Domestic Call (Dec. 7)
An open-line Spanish call was investigated; no disturbance was found. Ring camera footage suggested the call likely came from a delivery driver.
Theft – Package Stolen (Dec. 7)
A package containing an espresso maker valued at $1,600 was stolen. The victim wishes to prosecute.
Arrests
Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon – Dating Violence (Dec. 6)
Shane Justin Straughter, 31, was arrested after allegedly pointing a firearm at his boyfriend during a breakup dispute.
