Through our joint effort with the Broward Sheriff’s Office to share updates with residents, this is a summary of crimes and other Parkland incidents through August 5, 2024.
Burglary
North Springs Improvement was a victim of Burglary Business at 10980 W Hillsboro Blvd that was reported on 08/03/2024. The total estimated loss was $26,154. An employee arrived at the North Springs Improvement District booster site and observed a white pickup truck with a trailer leaving the compound. Shortly after arrival, the employee observed the chain link was cut to the entrance gate.
Grsc Inc. was a victim of a Burglary Building/Structure in Tembridge Trail at 6200 W Hillsboro Blvd, which was reported on 07/30/2024. The total estimated loss was $1,319. An unknown suspect cut the lock on the construction storage container and removed tools.
A victim of Burglary Building/Structure was reported on 07/30/2024. The total estimated loss was $1,199.
A victim of Burglary Conveyance was reported on 07/31/2024.
Theft
A victim of Auto Theft was reported on 07/31/2024. The victim parked his vehicle in his home’s driveway. The key fob was left inside the vehicle, and the vehicle was unlocked. Video surveillance shows 2 unknown subjects walking up the victim’s driveway and stealing it.
Fraud
On 08/01/2024, a victim of Fraud—worthless Check—was reported. The business owners responded to the Parkland District station to report that a known subject defrauded the business after issuing them five worthless checks totaling $6,875.00.
Information
Information was reported on 08/01/2024. The caller advised he was involved in a road rage incident where the passenger of the other vehicle showed him the middle finger and threw a liquid at his vehicle. The vehicles involved were a 2023 Gray Lexus RX350 and a 2023 Black Honda Civic.
Information was reported on 08/02/2024. The complainant wanted to report that his mailbox had been damaged. It was later determined that the driver of the SUV was an engineering inspector who was inspecting a roof at his neighbor’s residence. Contact was made with the inspector who responded back to the residence. The inspector did not realize that he had backed into the mailbox and agreed to pay to have the mailbox repaired.
Information was reported on 08/03/2024. BSO Deputies responded to a possible shooting. Upon further investigation, the incident was revealed to be a swatting call.
Arrests
Bechtold, Jack Reagan, 30, was arrested on a charge of Disorderly Intoxication – Disorderly Intoxication Public Place Cause Disturbance on 08/03/2024.
