On Friday, February 14, the City of Parkland will commemorate the 7th anniversary of the Marjory Stoneman Douglas shooting that took the lives of 17 people and left another 17 injured.
The event will begin at 5:00 p.m. on the Amphitheatre stage at Pine Trails Park, where local spiritual leaders will briefly speak.
According to the city, there will be musical interludes and a video that pays tribute to the 17 lives lost seven years ago will be shown.
The images of the 17 victims will be on display boards on the Amphitheatre great lawn as well.
“This is always a difficult time for our community as a whole and Commemoration provides a place for people to go to be with others,” said City of Parkland spokesperson Todd D’Angelis. “This is also an opportunity for the larger MSD community to show support for the families who lost the most.”
