The Broward County Sheriff’s Office in Parkland responded to various incidents between January 28 and February 3, 2025. Below is a detailed account of the incidents and arrests handled by local law enforcement.
Lost/Found Property
January 28 – A resident in Parkland found a handbag while walking and turned it over to the Broward Sheriff’s Office. The handbag was returned to its owner.
Firearm Buyback
January 28 – A citizen turned in two Mauser 8mm rifles at the Parkland District Office for a gun buyback program. The rifles, both missing parts of their stocks, had serial numbers in the Thai language. They were placed into evidence, and the individual received Publix gift cards.
Property Damage
January 28 – Three males riding bicycles in a neighborhood knocked a gate off its pole while exiting. There was no damage to the pole, but the reporting party requested documentation of the incident.
Missing Students Located
January 28 – Two students at Riverglades Elementary did not report to the aftercare program. A subsequent investigation found their mother had picked them up from school.
Juvenile Scooter Accident
January 28 – A juvenile male fell off a motorized scooter while riding on the roadway. He sustained road rash injuries and was transported by Coral Springs Fire Rescue to Broward General Hospital for evaluation due to a head injury. His mother met him at the hospital.
Dispute Over Dog Waste
January 28 – A Parkland resident reported a known individual was caught on video throwing a bag of dog feces into her driveway. Deputies contacted the suspect to inform them they did not have permission to continue doing so.
Domestic Battery Arrests
January 28 – Deputies responded to a family argument involving physical violence. Two individuals, Michelle Elizabeth Castro, 21, and Alessandra Castro, 28, were arrested and charged with domestic battery.
Found Property
January 28 – A Parkland resident received a package mistakenly delivered to their address. The package was turned over to BSO for safekeeping.
Harassment Complaint
January 29 – A woman reported that her ex-husband had been calling her multiple times daily for three years, with an increase in frequency. Although no threats were made, she requested a report to assist in obtaining a restraining order.
Threat Assessments at Local Schools
January 30 – A threat assessment report was completed at Westglades Middle School involving two juvenile males.
January 31 – A threat assessment report was filed at Heron Heights Elementary involving a juvenile suspect, witness, and victim.
January 31 – A 13-year-old student at Westglades Middle School was the subject of a threat assessment report.
Baker Act Incident
January 30 – A juvenile female was placed under the Baker Act after her foster father reported that she was suicidal. She was transported to Coral Springs Medical Center for evaluation.
Student Allergic Reaction
January 31 – A student at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School had an allergic reaction during lunch. The student’s mother provided Benadryl and took him home.
Community Property Damage
February 1 – A resident at Lakes at Parkland reported damage to a cement pillar outside the community’s guardhouse.
Battery
February 1 – Two adult males engaged in a physical altercation after one made an insult about a child. Both sustained minor injuries and were advised on misdemeanor filing procedures.
Missing Person Located
February 1 – A man reported his wife missing from the Parkland Animal Clinic. She was later found at Parkland Golf & Country Club and reunited with her husband.
Suspicious Incident
February 1 – Three juveniles reported that an individual in a black Lamborghini Urus stopped near them and stated, “I have a gun,” before driving away.
Criminal Mischief
February 2 – A stabilizing bracket for a flashing stop sign at North University Drive and Hillsboro Boulevard was found damaged.
Vehicle Burglary
February 2 – A resident reported their unlocked 2022 VW was entered overnight. A wallet with credit and gift cards was stolen but later found two houses away.
