Marjory Stoneman Douglas softball star Addison Zajkowski has officially signed to play college softball at Rollins College.
“It feels like a huge weight has been lifted off my shoulders,” Zajkowski said. “Knowing where I’ll be playing next year makes me feel more at ease.”
Zajkowski started playing softball when she was five, competing in a minor rec league in Minnesota. In fifth grade, she moved to Parkland with her family and played for the Coral Springs Panthers. She switched to Parkland Power but now plays for Florida Power Black Out of Delray Beach. She also shines on the varsity softball team at MSD.
The senior has played on varsity for three years and is a lifetime .311 hitter. Last season, she homered four times, had 17 doubles, and had 38 RBIs. Zajkowski also has 10 wins in the circle and an ERA of 3.22. The team has gone to the postseason three straight years and won 47 games.
For college, Zajkowski wanted to find a school that had excellent academics to set up for success after college. She has one more year left on the varsity softball team and hopes to strengthen her spin as a pitcher.
“Right now, I’m throwing too many walks, so hopefully, in the spring, I can fine-tune everything to get ready for Rollins,” Zajkowski added. “I am also working hard in the weight room to prepare me for the rigorous training Rollins has.”
Rollins College won 37 of their 49 games under coach Christine Roser-LeFevers a year ago.
