Job seekers, prepare for take-off.
Spirit Airlines is holding a major local hiring event for prospective flight attendants Monday.
The airline, which aims to hire hundreds of new flight attendants at the event, says would-be applicants should arrive at the Signature Grand, 6900 W. State Rd. 84, Davie, between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. on June 13.
Applicants should bring along a resume, a valid passport, and two additional forms of identification, the airline said in a written announcement.
“Qualified attendees will walk away with a conditional job offer, only contingent on passing the background and drug test,” the airline said.
Qualifications include at least two years of experience in the guest service, hospitality, or sales industry. Accepted applicants will be required to attend and successfully complete a four-week Initial Flight Attendant training.
In a brief job description, the airline said its flight attendants “are the face of Spirit.”
“They welcome guests with a smile; they are fun and friendly, relaxed and confident, playful yet professional…As a Spirit Flight Attendant, you are responsible for providing excellence in guest services and an enjoyable experience on board any one of our aircraft.”
Applicants can apply at the event or online before arriving at Spirit’s application portal.
The airline, which has a major presence in South Florida, has said it will invest $250 million in a new Dania Beach corporate headquarters, relocating 1,000 of its employees from Miramar.
In 2019, the Broward County Commission approved $2.25 million in state and local incentives for Spirit as part of a capital investment and job creation package.
Last year, the airline donated $20,000 to Parkland Cares, which provides funding for mental health services for residents affected by trauma.
The money was earmarked for scholarships for Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School students planning to major in the mental health field.
