Juliet Hodge is “popping” up on doorsteps all over Parkland and Coral Springs this spring.
Hodge is the head baker and boss lady behind Parkland Farmers’ Market mainstay, The Hodge Podge Baking Co. The baked goods company focuses on cake pops, cookies, specialty chocolate treats, Rice Krispy pops, cupcakes, and chocolate-covered Oreo cookies and pretzel rods. Are you hungry yet?
She launched The Hodge Podge Baking Co. in February 2019 after much encouragement from friends and family.
“I got my love for candy making and baking from my mom. She would always make elaborate treats and candies when I was growing up,” recalled Hodge. “So many people had been telling me I should start a business. I posted on a Friday, and I had someone place an order that day.”
Beyond the baking business, Hodge is also a full-time teacher at Westglades Middle School in Parkland. But, as a result of the global pandemic and school closures, she decided to take her tasty treats on the road and assembled a DIY cake pop kit for families to create their own. No prior baking experience required!
“People have really enjoyed making them,” Hodge shared. “They have posted pictures of their finished products. One family even recorded a video and posted it on YouTube of the whole process.”
The Hodge Podge Baking Co. offers free local delivery in the Parkland area.
“I have been taking extra precautions, including door drop-offs and no contact delivery,” said Hodge. “To me, that is the hardest part. I like interacting with my customers and seeing their smiles when they get their treats.”
If you would like to try your hand at dipping cake pops or need a celebratory dessert, place your order through the Hodge Podge Baking Co. Facebook page.
“I also create treat boxes and now do birthday deliveries with homemade cookies, cake bites, and our delicious toffee.”
