The Original Florida Pokers’ had three baseball players compete in the National Championship Series in Omaha.
Jake Rizzo, who plays high school baseball at Marjory Stoneman Douglas, finished the weekend hitting .429 with six hits off SEC-committed arms. Rizzo is signed with Dayton University and hit .336 with three home runs and 21 RBIs for the top-ranked high school baseball team in the country.
Jack Rostock, a parkland native and member of the North Broward Prep baseball team, continued his strong summer, striking out six in three innings and hitting 91 on the radar gun. Rostock went 7-1 for NBP this season with a 1.86 era. He also struck out 53 hitters in 49 innings.
Nico Sabatino attends St. Thomas Aquinas, batting .417 with five hits. He is a University of Florida commit and won a State Championship earlier this year with the Raiders. Sabatino had eight home runs and drove in 31 runs while the team went 29-6-1.
