Parkland residents and community stakeholders are gearing up for a night of dialogue and connection at the upcoming ‘Elevate Parkland: The City that Grows Together‘ event.
On Thursday, October 19, from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., city leaders and community members will gather at the Fort Lauderdale Marriott Coral Springs Hotel & Convention Center for an engaging discussion covering pressing issues, exploring opportunities and celebrating the positive changes shaping Parkland’s future.
Reserve your seats here. With limited spots, this free event is open to all. It includes complimentary food and drinks for attendees. Spots are limited to a first-come-first-serve basis, with nearly 230 already RSVP’ing for the 250-seat venue.
The unique evening aims to delve into vital discussions concerning Parkland’s path forward, with a lineup of esteemed guest speakers and an array of compelling topics on the agenda.
The impressive roster of guest speakers who are well-versed in Parkland’s community and its future aspirations will feature:
- Rich Walker | Mayor of Parkland
- Michael Udine | Broward County Commissioner
- Lori Alhadeff | Broward County School Board Member
- Marty Kiar | Broward County Property Appraiser
- Michael Citron | Parkland’s #1 Realtor with Parrot Realty
The discussion topics on the docket are purposely diverse and far-reaching, with the overarching theme being a one-stop-shop platform that enables city leadership and the community alike to gather together for a night of reflecting on the multifaceted concerns of the Parkland community.

Michael Citron, owner of Parrot Realty and a prominent figure in Parkland’s real estate scene, expressed the event’s overarching goal, sharing with Parkland Talk.
“We want to bring the city together and talk about issues that are top of mind for the residents, including the Heron Bay Golf Course development, how it impacts the city, and overall, what improvements the city has made.”
“We want to keep it positive and for the residents to come together,” Citron continued.
Recognizing the concerns of Parkland residents, he emphasized the importance of addressing questions and offering perspectives on issues such as their impact on taxes and available programs. “We know people are worried about schools and overcrowding, so we want people to be able to ask questions and get perspective on things such as how they impact taxes and programs they can join.”
The event is designed to be inclusive and participatory, with opportunities for all attendees to have their voices heard. Citron highlighted, “There will be a place for everyone to speak and a Q&A for people to voice their questions and concerns. We know not everyone agrees, so we want to give everyone a voice as changes impact everyone and can impact the city.”

As Parkland grows and sees inevitable development, Citron says Elevate Parkland’s goal is to get the community to spend more time envisioning its future and discussing all aspects of its growth in a healthy public forum.
“Where do they see the city in the future? That’s an important question,” Citron said. “The city could look different in five to ten years, and how we go about that is important.”
