Jeremy Fishkin will attend Florida A&M University as the only football player from Marjory Stoneman Douglas to sign to play college football.
He told Parkland Talk it felt great as months of stress and confusion were immediately erased.
“When I signed my NLI papers, it was as if a weight lifted off of my shoulders and was replaced with the responsibility of fulfilling the investment that FAMU is putting into me by granting me a scholarship to play football.”
Fishkin played various sports, including soccer, baseball, lacrosse, basketball, and flag football. However, he started playing tackle football during his junior year and competed in his first game against Western in the preseason under Head Coach Quentin Short.
MSD went 7-3 in the regular season and beat Santaluces High School in the opening round of the postseason before falling against Palm Beach Central High School. Fishkin then played for Keith Hindsley as a senior and won four more games.
“Jeremy is a great player on and off the field, Hindsley said. “He had great leadership skills, and I can’t wait to see him grow at the college level. Jeremy is trustworthy and loyal and cares about his teammates. He was a pleasure to coach for the short time I coached him.”
Fishkin says signing with Florida A&M was a no-brainer. Not only were they the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) and National Champions, he also established a terrific relationship with the coaching staff.
