Parkland Crime Blotter: Teen Allegedly Attacks Father for Waking Him Up

The Broward County Sheriff’s Office in Parkland responded to various incidents between April 29 and May 5, 2025. Below is a detailed account of the incidents and arrests handled by local law enforcement.

Property Damage
April 29, Parkland Bay Community – A school bus was damaged when a security gate arm came down on it. No injuries were reported.

Information Report
April 29, Pine Trails Park—An 11-year-old told a detective his nanny didn’t pick him up from school. It was later learned this was a regular arrangement, and Child Protective Services was notified.

Marchman Act
April 29 – A man was taken into custody under the Marchman Act after arriving home intoxicated and threatening to drive.

Residential Burglary
April 30 – A man reported his ex-girlfriend entered his home without permission, damaged property, and left with their children.

Lost Property
April 30 – A resident reported losing his wallet, containing two bank cards and a New Jersey ID, while at work.

Domestic Battery
May 2 – A man reported being attacked by his juvenile son while trying to wake him for school. The son fled the scene and was reported as a runaway.

Information Reports
May 2 – A dispute occurred between a resident and a landscaper.
May 2 – Neighbors argued over a juvenile setting off fireworks.
May 2 – A woman submitted a video of her neighbor lighting fireworks and playing loud music.
May 2 – DCF assisted with relocating a teenager to their father’s home.

Baker Act
May 2 – A woman was transported to Northwest Medical Center under the Baker Act.
May 4 – A man was Baker Acted after a suicide attempt involving pills.
May 5 – An 18-year-old woman who threatened to kill herself and fled home was located and transported to Fort Lauderdale Behavioral Health.

Domestic Disturbance (Non-Criminal)
May 3 – A couple got into a verbal argument. Neither party cooperated with the police.

Battery Arrest
May 5 – A 16-year-old male was arrested after pushing and punching his father during an argument. The father sustained minor injuries.

Theft
Reported May 1 – A pediatric office employee reported $1,604 missing from her purse. Video later revealed a co-worker removing only a sandwich. It’s unclear when the cash went missing.

Fraud
Reported May 2 – A man reported $2,000 in fraudulent SunPass charges made through transponders linked to his account.

Arrest
May 3 – Gazeba Margarita De La Paz, 49, was arrested at Loxahatchee Rd. and University Dr. on a DUI charge for driving with a blood alcohol level over .15 with a person under 18 in the vehicle.
