Through our joint effort with the Broward Sheriff’s Office to share updates to residents, this is a summary of crimes that occurred in Parkland through September 2. Names of those not arrested have been redacted.
Battery
7800 block of NW 62nd Way
On August 28, the female dogsitter advised that the homeowner’s daughter, 22, threw a fit and put her hands on her. The daughter stated the same. There were no injuries.
7705 North State Rd 7 Wawa
On August 30, the suspect and victim were involved in an altercation in the parking lot of Wawa. The victim signed a waiver of prosecution, and the suspect trespassed from Wawa.
Auto Theft
6500 block of NW 95th Lane
On August 29, deputies responded to the Parkland home in reference to an auto theft that occurred sometime between midnight and 5 a.m., in which an unknown subject stole the victim’s vehicle from the driveway.
Information
6220 block of NW 79th Way
On September 1, a female complainant called in reference to an unknown neighbor putting tree branches on a vacant lot across the street from her residence. She presented BSO with video of the neighbor. The neighbor was contacted and removed the branches from the lot.
11535 Osprey Trail – Heron Bay Plaza Del Lago Clubhouse
On September 2, a male Heron Bay resident was involved in a verbal altercation with the clubhouse attendant and several other residents. He left voluntarily.
Schools
11000 Holmberg Road – Westglades Middle School
On August 27, the fire alarm at Westglades Middle School activated due to a malfunction with the system. As a precaution, the school was evacuated based on fire drill procedures. Once the alarm activation was determined to be a malfunction with the system, the students were allowed to enter the school.
11010 Nob Hill Road – Heron Heights Elementary School
On August 27, a 6-year-old male collided with another student on the playground during recess and suffered a laceration to his head.
7400 Parkside Drive – Riverglades Elementary School
On August 27, a fourth-grade male student made a spontaneous statement in class which was reported to the school administration. The school administrators and the school support staff met with the student. After speaking with the student, they followed the Broward School Board District policies for proper documentation and reporting of the incident.

On August 30, a fifth-grade student fell on her back while walking up the school stairwell of building 3. Coral Springs/Parkland Fire responded to the school and examined the student. Her parents responded to the school and declined transportation to the hospital for their child.
