Several former players from the powerhouse baseball program at Marjory Stoneman Douglas continue to shine at the collegiate level, earning major postseason honors after standout seasons across the country.
Rylan Lujo, a 2024 graduate, has quickly emerged as one of the top players in the country and was recently named First Team All-SEC following an incredible season with the University of Georgia.
After spending his freshman season at the University of Dayton, Lujo transferred to the SEC and thrived, batting .359 with nine home runs, 37 RBIs, and 44 runs scored while helping Georgia capture the SEC Regular Season Championship. The Bulldogs finished 43-12 and earned the top seed in the upcoming SEC Tournament. Lujo was also part of the first four state championship teams at MSD, with the Eagles adding another title following his graduation.
Niko Benestad was named to the Division I All-FCSAA Second Team with Indian River State College. After beginning his collegiate career at the University of South Florida, Benestad put together a fantastic season, hitting .405 with five home runs and 33 RBIs. Like Lujo, he was also a member of four state championship teams at MSD.
Nick Diaz earned CAA Rookie of the Week honors with the College of Charleston. The 2025 MSD graduate had a tremendous week, going 7-for-15 (.467) with a 1.271 OPS, one home run, two doubles, seven RBIs, and five runs scored. Diaz has raised his batting average by more than 40 points over the last month and now has three home runs and 27 RBIs this season.
Michael Ossenfort was named the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Student-Athlete of the Year after a dominant campaign. Ossenfort batted .433 with 13 home runs and 46 RBIs.
Alex Rodriguez earned 2026 All-Sun Lakes Conference Second Team honors with Pasco-Hernando State College and was later selected to the All-Tournament Team. His team captured a Region Championship and advanced to the NJCAA Division II World Series. Rodriguez hit .299 with seven home runs, including a key three-run homer during the postseason. He also scored 83 runs and stole 18 bases this season.
Meanwhile, Brayden McCluskey was selected to the Second Team All-Conference squad for Hillsborough Community College. McCuskey won five games while appearing in 14 contests, making three starts and striking out 51 batters.
