The postseason bracket for Regionals was released following the District Championships for both the boys and girls soccer teams.
The boys’ team went 9-2-2 and earned the top spot in Districts. After receiving a bye in the first round, they knocked off Spanish River and Boca Raton Community High School. They will play Leonard High School on Tuesday, February 4, at 4 p.m. The Lancers are 14-3-3 this year and also won a District Championship after beating Santaluces and Palm Beach Central High School 4-1 and 4-3, respectively. They are led by Julio Torre Castellon, who scored 32 goals and 70 points.
The Eagles are seed first, while Doral Academy and South Dade High School will face off with the winner facing either MSD or Leonard High School. Christopher Columbus, Coral Glades, Ferguson, and Cypress Bay High School all qualified for Regionals on the bottom half of the draw.
The girls’ team was also seeded first at Districts and won a championship after earning a bye and beating Western and Spanish River Community College. They outscored their opponents 9-0 and will play Doral Academy as the third seed in the first round on Tuesday, February 4, at 6 p.m.
The Firebirds lost 1-0 in overtime against Cypress Bay High School in Districts and are 9-5-2 this year. The winner of this game will play either Wellington or Coral Reef High School. Cypress Bay is the top seed and will face Boca Raton Community High School, while Miami Palmetto will play Spanish River Community High School.
