Marjory Stoneman Douglas has officially named Chris Baldwin, the new varsity football coach. He will take over for Keith Hindsley, who had to step down earlier this year due to health reasons.
“I have a whole lot of pride,” Baldwin said. “I look forward to working with each and every one of the student-athletes. My motto has always been academics above athletics. It’s a great group of kids and community. I’m just ecstatic.”
Baldwin, a 1985 graduate from Coconut Creek High School, worked at Marjory Stoneman Douglas as a defensive coordinator under coach Rick Divita 15 years ago and returned as the junior varsity coach in 2023. He has also coached at Boyd H. Anderson, Monarch, Fort Lauderdale, and Piper and was the Head Coach at Coral Glades until 2017. Baldwin is also the Head Coach of the MSD girls flag football team and works at MSD as a paraprofessional.
He is excited to get to work in the spring season as the Eagles are set to begin spring practices and will have their spring game on May 17 against Somerset.
“This is a great opportunity, and it’s nice to have ties to the community,” Baldwin added. “ We will be getting involved with different things within the community as that’s important.”
