Construction has begun on the enhancements to Parkland’s Covered Bridge Park, and Mayor Rich Walker said the improvements are an opportunity to feature a beautiful entry into the city.
Covered Bridge Park is an approximately 2.9-acre piece of land located on Holmberg Road, west of State Road 7.
The project, which exceeded its proposed budget by almost $275,000, includes improvements like nature trails, enhanced native landscape, a centralized open lawn, a nature play area for children, a meditation garden, and a small, gated parking lot.
Construction is expected to take approximately 10 to 12 months, weather permitting.
According to the city, there may be minor, short-term traffic impacts at times, and residents should exercise caution through the area, reduce speed when appropriate, and obey flag person commands.
