Friends are raising money for a Parkland mother and her three children, devastated by the recent death of their father from brain cancer.
Alain Torres, of Watercrest in Parkland, lost his courageous battle against the disease on Dec. 9, leaving his wife Natalia Nyatina and their children, ages 7, 9, and 11, “struggling to cope with this unimaginable loss,” according to a GoFundMe campaign page.
“Alain was an extraordinary husband and father whose love and dedication to his family were unmatched,” the page states. “Diagnosed with brain cancer a year ago, Alain fought valiantly, enduring excruciating pain and the challenges of this cruel disease. On December 9, after months of hope and heartbreak, he passed away surrounded by his loving family.”
Nyatina has been the sole financial provider for the family for the past year, balancing care for Torres with parenting their kids, according to the page.
“With Alain gone, Natalia now faces an overwhelming financial burden on top of her grief. She must support her children, cover everyday living expenses, and build a new future for her family—all on a very limited income.”
Donated funds will help the family pay for day-to-day expenses like food, clothing, and housing; childcare and educational needs; funeral costs; and with helping Nyatina stay afloat financially while focusing on her grieving kids, organizers said.
As of Friday morning, the GoFundMe campaign had raised $9,538 toward its $30,000 goal.
