
BCAA Flag Football All-Star Game. {BCAA}
Marjory Stoneman Douglas wrapped up another tremendous year of high school sports, with several student-athletes selected for All-Star Games.
The flag football team had a historic season, winning the District Title and reaching the Regional Final. Morgan Goldman and Daveigh Rampstad were the two seniors who competed. Goldman finished the season with 62 tackles and had 234 in her four-year varsity career. Rampstad also played and had six tackles as a senior.
Austin McClellan, Justin Berke, and Nathan Didovic competed for the boys team in water polo. These three seniors combined for 62 goals and helped the Eagles win nine games. Roni Lubarsky, Jessica Lee, and Viviana Fernandez played for the girls and combined to score 52 goals. MSD finished the season with six wins under Head Coach Justin Berke.
Salomon Bandres and Collin Oliphant competed in volleyball after the Eagles won five games and reached the District Final before losing to Coral Springs Charter in five sets.
Coming off their fourth straight State Championship, the baseball team had three players selected: Brayden McCluskey, Ethan Askin, and Riley Mudlin. McCluskey, signed to play at Hillsborough Community College, pitched in nine games and had an era of 1.08. He also struck out 21 hitters in 133 innings, while Askin played in 18 games, drove in eight runs, and had two extra-base hits. Mudlin only had six at-bats but had three hits and walked thrice. Devin Fitz-Gerald, Rylan Lujo, and Niko Benestad were all selected to compete in the Home Run Derby. Fitz-Gerald finished with a team-high five home runs, while Lujo and Benestad each hit four.
Victoria Diaz and Isabella Silva were picked from the softball team after the Eagles went 13-11 and reached Regionals. Both seniors hit over .340 and combined to drive in 32 runs, while Silva also homered. Diaz is signed with Manhattan College, and Silva will attend Florida National University.
