Marjory Stoneman Douglas boys basketball is moving on in the District Tournament following their dominant win over Spanish River Community High School on Monday.
The win is the team’s 18th of the season, which is the most they have had under Head Coach Teddy Lyons. The Eagles previously lost in the first round the last two years but made sure not to let that happen again.
“We are just happy to win and move on to the next round,” Lyons said. “We have a lot of business to handle. We do not want our season to end. I thought it was a total team effort, and we were able to put the game away early.”
Next, the Eagles are set to play Park Vista High School in the District Semifinals on Wednesday, Feb. 9, at 6 p.m. at Deerfield Beach High School.
The Cobras are 14-10 this season and are coming off a 69-56 win over Monarch High School in the District Quarterfinals.
