Representative Christine Hunschofsky (D-Parkland) and Senator Tina Polsky (D-Boca Raton) recently presented $350,000 in state funding to Eagles’ Haven Wellness Center to support programming and services. The appropriation was secured during the 2025 Legislative Session and signed into the state budget by the governor.
Eagles’ Haven was founded after the 2018 Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting to help the community heal. The center offers case management, trauma education, crisis intervention, counseling, and a variety of wellness activities at no cost, seven days a week.
During the check presentation, the legislators joined staff for a candlelighting ceremony in memory of the 17 lives lost at MSD.
“The work being done at Eagles’ Haven is truly lifesaving. As a community forever impacted by the events of February 14, 2018, we understand the importance of having a place where people can come together. Eagles’ Haven provides that space where individuals can receive care and know they are not alone,” Hunschofsky said.
“Eagles’ Haven has been a vital part of our community for the last seven years. The services it provides to support its residents and promote mental health are invaluable,” Polsky said. “I have been honored to advocate for its funding and support in Tallahassee since being elected to represent the Parkland community, and look forward to doing so in the future.”
“Eagles’ Haven has immense gratitude for the support provided by Representative Hunschofsky and Senator Polsky. Their unwavering advocacy for the MSD community is essential in enabling us to deliver our vital services,” said Rebecca Jarquin, Eagles’ Haven director.
