Marjory Stoneman Douglas Todd Fitz-Gerald received $1,000 for Extra Yard for Teachers Big Day, a nationwide celebration recognizing teachers.
It was a great surprise today to be recognized by the OBC,” Fitz-Gerald said. ” I am humbled and honored to have received such a great gift. All the years of teaching and coaching, and to be recognized by such a great organization is truly humbling.”
Fitz-Gerald, who also teaches science at MSD, has been the architect for one of the most successful high school baseball teams in the country. Under his leadership, the Eagles have six State Championships, including the last five, while also securing four National Titles.
Fitz-Gerald has had hundreds of players move on to play collegiate baseball, as well as get drafted and compete in the MLB. He also works with the Original Florida Pokers travel baseball teams.
