The Marjory Stoneman Douglas flag football team completed their best regular season in over a decade.
The Eagles completed the season with a 34-6 win over Coconut Creek High School, with seniors Elizabeth Velasco-Campbell, Jennifer Baksh, Morgan Goldman, Daveigh Rampersad, and Ella Kalvaitis recognized. Quarterbacks Samantha Calavetta and Alina Caravello combined to throw for 206 yards and four touchdowns. Courtney Heymach scored three touchdowns and caught three catches for 123 yards, while Kenslee Ward scored twice.
Defensively, Tenore picked off two passes, and Audrey Haltiwanger, Baksh, Rampersad, and Ward all had sacks. Haltiwanger and Mickayla Sugrano recorded five tackles to help lead MSD to their eighth straight win. MSD has outscored its opponents 248-34 this year, with its only loss coming against Boyd H. Anderson High School on February 26.
The Eagles will enter the District Tournament as the top seed, and their first game is set for Tuesday, April 9, at Coral Glades.
