Construction continues on the enhancements to Parkland’s Covered Bridge Park with anticipated completion before summer.
City Commissioner Bob Mayersohn, who watches the construction on his daily walks, said it’s very refreshing to see the progress being made.
Residents may have recently noticed trees being planted on the berm between the park and Holmberg Road, according to Communications Director Todd DeAngelis.
“Grading has been done and both irrigation and drainage have been installed,” he said.
Covered Bridge Park is an approximately 2.9-acre piece of land located on Holmberg Road, west of State Road 7.
The project, which exceeded its proposed budget by almost $275,000, includes nature trails, enhanced native landscape, a centralized open lawn, a nature play area for children, a meditation garden, and a small, gated parking lot.
Although construction is expected to finish in May, according to the city, there may be minor, short-term traffic impacts at times, and drivers should exercise caution through the area and reduce speed when appropriate.
Residents should expect to see a community event scheduled prior to the re-opening of the park.
