This is a summary of crimes and other Parkland incidents through June 24, 2024, compiled through our joint effort with the Broward Sheriff’s Office to share updates with residents.
Burglary
A victim of Burglary Conveyance was reported on 06/19/2024. The unknown suspect(s) entered the unlocked Range Rover but did not remove any property.
A victim of Burglary Conveyance was reported on 06/19/2024. A black 4-door BMW sedan backed into the driveway, and two unknown males exited the vehicle, and both entered the victim’s car.
Lost Property
Lost Property was reported on 06/19/2024. The reporting person wished to file a police report about her missing wallet and for what she thought was suspicious activity at her house.
Information
Information was reported on 06/19/2024. The reporting parties wished to document a suspicious package they received through Amazon.
Information was reported on 06/21/2024. Deputies were advised of traffic complaints. Upon arrival, Deputies located vehicles improperly parked and located a party at one of the residences that was being rented via VRBO. Deputies contacted the homeowner, who came to the scene and made everyone leave his residence. All subjects left without further incident.
Information was reported on 06/24/2024. The reporting person advised that her 17-year-old daughter was confronted verbally by several male subjects in a pickup truck while she was at the mailbox at her residence. Several male subjects pulled up beside her and said, “Hey pretty girl…hey baby…come over here…. we want to talk to you.” The victim stated that at no time did anyone exit the vehicle or make any attempt to physically grab her. The girl then entered the residence and informed her mother of what occurred. Two photographs were obtained of the vehicle and the tag for the trailer being towed (registered to a tree trimming company).
Criminal Mischief
Heron Bay Community Association was the victim of Criminal Mischief at 8124 NW 122 Lane, reported on 06/20/2024. An unknown suspect(s) graffitied the interior wall of the Heron Bay/Banyan Isles community at the above-listed location.
Fraud
A victim of Fraud—All Other was reported on 06/20/2024. The total estimated loss was $2,000. The victim advised that his company website had been stolen and used as a website for a different company, using his Google reviews to steal customers.
Fire
A fire was reported on 06/22/2024. Deputies responded about a possible residential fire. Upon arrival, I observed black smoke coming from inside the residence. Coral Springs-Parkland Fire Rescue Engines responded and opened all doors and windows to the residence to air out the smoke and advised there were no flames. The fire inspector responded and deemed the incident to be accidental. FPL responded to shut off power to the residence, and the homeowners are staying with a neighbor.
