Through our joint effort with the Broward Sheriff’s Office to share updates with residents, this is a summary of crimes and other Parkland incidents through July 8, 2024.
Information
Information was reported on 07/03/2024. The complainant wished to file a police report after his bank requested he get one due to an issue with money being withdrawn from his account after a problem with an ATM.
Information was reported on 07/08/2024. Two bicyclists collided with each other while riding on the sidewalk along Nob Hill Road. One party was transported with a possible broken arm.
Lost Property
A victim of Lost Property on University Drive was reported on 07/03/2024. An anonymous individual dropped off 24 rounds of 38 special ammo at the Parkland District office.
A victim of Lost Property was reported on 07/07/2024. The complainant stated she left her phone on top of her vehicle as she was pumping gas and then drove away from the location, which caused her to lose her phone.
Criminal Mischief
A victim of Criminal Mischief was reported on 07/05/2024. Neighbors noticed a small fire by their neighbor’s mailbox approximately 5-6 feet high after hearing what they thought to be fireworks going off. They attempted to put out the fire by using a fire extinguisher. They called Coral Springs-Parkland Fire when they could not, which subsequently put out the fire. The fire was started when an unknown subject or subjects put fireworks in the homeowner’s trash can and set them off without his knowledge.
Animal Bite
A victim of Animal Bite was reported on 07/05/2024. Deputies responded to a call for a delayed dog attack on another dog. The smaller dog was subsequently taken to the Coral Springs Animal Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. The offending dog’s owner acknowledges responsibility and exchanged information.
Theft
A victim of Theft—All Other was reported on 07/07/2024. The total estimated loss was $900. The victim stated he was selling an item he placed on Facebook Marketplace and had met the suspect. The victim said the buyer transferred partial funds through Venmo after receiving the item. Once the suspect left the location, he canceled the transaction.
A victim of Theft -All Other was reported on 07/08/2024. The total estimated loss was $669. The victim alleged a guest removed his credit card from his wallet at his residence. The subject used the credit card to make unauthorized charges.
Burglary
A victim of Burglary Conveyance was reported on 07/08/2024. The total estimated loss was $1,530. The victims` unlocked vehicle was parked in their driveway, where two unknown males entered the car and removed the property.
A victim of Burglary Conveyance was reported on 07/08/2024. The victim advised that their 2015 JEEP Grand Cherokee was broken into while parked and unoccupied inside the park. The front passenger window was smashed, and the victim’s wallet was stolen. The wallet had credit cards, a Florida driver’s license, and a work ID.
