Through our joint effort with the Broward Sheriff’s Office to share updates with residents, this is a summary of crimes and other Parkland incidents through January 15, 2024.
Theft
A victim of Theft – All Other on 01/10/2024. The total estimated loss was $1,538. A check was stolen from the mailbox and deposited.
Information
Information on 01/10/2024. While in class, a juvenile female jokingly told a second juvenile that a male classmate had a gun inside his backpack. The juvenile then contacted his parent, who contacted the school. The school was placed on hold, and the juvenile suspected of having the gun was located and searched. No weapon was located on the juvenile, and the hold was lifted. The juvenile female who made the accusation admitted it was a joke, and she was later suspended.
Information on 01/15/2024. The reporting person wanted to report an ongoing issue with the neighbor over the easement between the two properties and that he possibly took down a security camera from a tree. The camera was found on the ground with no damage to it.
Burglary
Ryan Homes was a victim of Burglary Residence on 01/11/2024. The total estimated loss was $1,500. GE appliances were dropped off at a home under construction. Those appliances were last seen in the home’s kitchen area awaiting installation. The home/site was secured and left for the weekend. When crews returned, they discovered the combination range and oven had been stolen from the residence.
Illegal Dumping
Coastal Community Church was the victim of Illegal Dumping on 01/12/2024. An unidentified silver or gray GMC Sierra and a Black GMC Sierra Dually were observed coordinating and dumping material without permission. The land had recently been cleared, and a small berm was established to deter further dumping. This and signage and cameras were installed. Despite the deterrents, the unknown individuals dumped their materials without authorization.
Threats / Intimidation
A victim of Threats / Intimidation on 01/15/2024. The reporting person advised mail delivered to his house contained a threat.
