This is a summary of crimes and other Parkland incidents through August 26, 2024, compiled through our joint effort with the Broward Sheriff’s Office to share updates with residents.
Information
Information was reported on 08/20/2024. An 11-year-old student was brought home by a bus number different from the assigned bus. The bus driver eventually dropped him off in front of his neighborhood, but the parents were upset with the driver’s refusal to speak with them on the phone when their child wasn`t dropped off at the usual time and place. The parents requested a police report and will follow up at the school. The child was brought home by his adult sister.
Property Damage
A victim of Property Damage was reported on 08/21/2024. An adult female at the community guard gate at Miralago reported that as she assisted a resident in backing their vehicle out of a situation where the car was trapped between the gate arms, the driver accidentally backed into a pole with a sign and broke it. The sign and pole belong to the property.
Riverglades Elementary was a victim of Property Damage at 7400 Parkside Drive, reported on 08/23/2024. The delivery truck damaged the south entrance gate (chain link). The damage was minor, and the truck was unharmed.
Theft
Ryan Homes was a victim of Theft From Building, which was reported on 08/21/2024. The total estimated loss was $450. A white Timberlake kitchen cabinet was removed from the garage area of an unoccupied house which was still in its box waiting to be installed.
Trespassing
A victim of Trespassing was reported on 08/24/2024. Deputies responded to a vacant home after being waved down by a passerby. Two juvenile male subjects were found trespassing inside the property.
Arrests
No arrests were reported.
