The Riverglades Speech and Debate Team took on a unique challenge at their third tournament of the season on February 6 at Coral Glades High School.
Instead of focusing solely on medals, students were encouraged to step outside their comfort zones and compete in new categories, prioritizing skill development and personal growth.
Participants competed across various speech and debate events, including Impromptu Speaking, Interpretation, Duo Interpretation, Original Oratory, Congressional Debate, and Public Forum Debate.
“Though we only brought home three medals this tournament, these students achieved so much more than that. They showed grit, hard work, flexibility, and what it takes to be a true champion in life,” said 5th-grade teacher Alexandra Bofshever
Blake Johnson earned a medal in Impromptu Speaking, and Noam Dayan and Milena Iglesias medaled in Public Forum Debate.
Their next tournament is set for April, followed by the Championships.
