School Board Member Lori Alhadeff took to social media to announce her re-election campaign.
“Representing District 4 over the course of the past three years has been among the greatest honors of my professional career,” wrote Alhadeff, who represents Coral Springs, Parkland, Tamarac, and parts of Margate and North Lauderdale.
A former teacher and mother of three, Alhadeff became a school safety advocate after her daughter Alyssa was killed in the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting.
She and her husband, Ilan, who practices internal medicine in Boca Raton, moved to Parkland seven years ago from Woodcliff Lake, New Jersey, with Alyssa and their two sons, who attend Parkland schools.
“Representing District 4 over the course of the past three years has been among the greatest honors of my professional career,” wrote Alhadeff, who represents Coral Springs, Parkland, Tamarac, and parts of Margate and North Lauderdale.
Over the past three years, Alhadeff has worked on the short-term goals of increasing safety and security in Broward County Public Schools and holding Superintendent Robert Runcie and General Counsel Barbara Myrick accountable. She has also undertaken the longer-term work of implementing the comprehensive strategic plan to improve student experience, provide exceptional support services, and recruit top-notch teachers.
Alhadeff is looking forward to hiring a new superintendent and general counsel and intends to continue representing the district through hard work and relentless dedication to improving Broward County Public Schools.
“I’m proud of all that I have accomplished, but my work is not done.”
