The results are in for the District 2 City Commission race between Diego Pfeiffer and Rich Walker: Walker won by a landslide 78.4 percent of the votes with all six precincts reporting.
Walker received 7,856 votes, while Pfeiffer collected 2,167 votes.
“I spent a lot of time at the polls, which gave me a good opportunity to meet a lot of people and speak to the residents of Parkland, which was awesome. I feel that I’ve earned everyone’s trust. I worked hard to gain as many votes as I could, and hopefully, the outcome shows that,” said Walker.
Pfeiffer, 18, a 2018 graduate of Marjory Stoneman Douglas decided to run for Parkland city commission during the summer, but after his freshman year began at the University of Miami, he chose not to actively campaign.
Walker, a father of five, owns the Bergen Sign Company in Pompano Beach. He is an active member of the Parkland community and a board member on multiple Parkland recreational sports leagues. He and his wife, Catherine moved to Parkland four years ago.
“Parkland is a great place to live. I love Parkland, and it’s growing, so I just want to make sure that I am a part of that growth,” said Walker. “I’m excited to be the new commissioner and looking forward to getting to work and trying to help the residents and the city of Parkland.”
