Through our joint effort with the Broward Sheriff’s Office to share updates with residents, this is a summary of crimes and other Parkland incidents through December 5, 2022.
Fire
Cypresshead Dr.
On 12/01/2022, deputies responded in reference to a residential fire. Reporting party stated he was burning old papers in the fireplace earlier in the night and was later awakened by the sound of his smoke alarms. Coral Springs-Parkland Fire stated the fire was burning inside the fireplace and chimney area wall, and they had to cut the wall to extinguish the fire.
Fraud
72nd St.
On 11/29/2022, the victim advised that an unknown person attempted to sell a property owned by the victim. The victim was contacted by a Realtor representing a buyer of a vacant lot–which is owned by the victim—that was set for closing the following day. The victim advised the buyer and realtor that the lot was not for sale and was never offered by him for sale at any time. Tot. Est. Loss: $500,000.
Information
Juniper Dr.
On 11/30/2022, children were concerned that their mother’s friend was attempting to gain access to their mother’s bank accounts and investments. The friend has also been sharing her medicinal marijuana edibles.
58th Ct.
On 11/17/2022, domestic partners who split up were disputing ownership of high-value collectible Pokemon cards.
Pinewood Ave.
On 12/03/2022, a toddler accidentally locked themselves inside a closet with a keypad lock on the outside. The homeowner did not know the combination of the lock. Due to the child’s young age, could note to open the door from the outside. The homeowner gave the Fire Department permission to make forced entry into the closet, which subsequently caused minor damage to the door.
Prowling
62nd Ter.
A report of Loitering/Prowling was made on 12/1/2022. Two male juveniles were arrested for loitering and prowling after failing to dispel the deputy’s alarm. Juveniles were later released to their guardians with juvenile civil citations.
Theft
74th St.
A person was the victim of Theft – All Other on 11/30/2022. The victim alleged that workers who were doing work on her ceiling stole jewelry from her closet when they were alone in her home. Tot. Est. Loss: $8,550.
