Registration is now underway for the 6th Annual Make Our Schools Safe tennis fundraiser.
The 6th Annual Make Our School Safe Tennis Fundraiser takes place on Friday, December 8, beginning at 8:30 a.m. at the Parkland Tennis Center at 7901 Parkside Drive.
The event, organized to support the nonprofit organization, aims to raise awareness and funds to enhance school safety measures.
Make Our School Safe was founded by Lori and Ilan Alhadeff, who tragically lost their daughter, Alyssa, in the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting on Valentine’s Day 2018.
In remembrance of Alyssa, the organization has worked to ensure that no parent has to endure the heart-wrenching pain that the Alhadeffs experienced in the aftermath of a tragic school shooting. The upcoming tennis fundraiser will provide financial support and solidarity from the community to those in need.
Alhadeff, also the chair of Broward County Public Schools, hopes to raise $50,000 through donations raised by the tournament.
Make Our Schools Safe is not just for tennis players. Alhadeff says tickets can also be purchased for lunch, a raffle, and shopping options. She said last year’s tennis fundraiser also raised about $50,000.
The Alhadeffs hope that through events like these, they can honor Alyssa’s memory and create a lasting impact on school safety.
