This Broward County Sheriff’s Office is set to host an event that offers a secure and environmentally friendly way for community members to dispose of sensitive documents and unused prescription drugs.
The Broward Sheriff’s Office will host its Shred-A-Thon and Operation Medicine Cabinet event on Saturday, April 27, at the Parkland Equestrian Center, 8350 Ranch Road, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
During the Shred-A-Thon, participants can safely destroy documents containing personal information, such as personal letters, check stubs, credit card offers, receipts, and other paperwork.
The free service aims to help prevent identity theft and ensure privacy. Each person can bring up to two boxes of documents to accommodate as many residents as possible.
In addition to document shredding, the event will feature Operation Medicine Cabinet, where attendees can dispose of unused or expired prescription medications.
This initiative is part of a broader effort to combat prescription drug abuse and ensure the safe disposal of medications.
Participants turning in prescription drugs will receive $5, courtesy of the Sheriff’s Foundation of Broward County. The offer is valid while supplies last and is limited to one per family.
No needles, sharps, or other medical items will be accepted during this event to ensure the safety of all participants and staff involved in the collection process.
