The Parkland Chamber of Commerce will welcome County Commissioner Jared Moskowitz to their upcoming breakfast meeting at the Astons Garden Ballroom, located at 9423 Aston Gardens Ct.
Held on Wednesday, July 13, the doors open at 8 a.m., with the event beginning at 8:30 a.m., and registration is open to chamber members and the community.
According to Cindy Kaufman, director of programming, the Chamber wants to allow the community to hear from the current county commissioner and U.S. congressional candidate for District 23.
Kaufman said that at each of their monthly meetings, the Chamber makes efforts to host a wide variety of speakers to address chamber members and the community.
Moskowitz was first elected to the Parkland city commission in 2006, then reelected in 2010. In 2012, voters elected him to the State House of Representatives.
As a state rep, Moskowitz helped craft the bipartisan Marjory Stoneman Douglas Public Safety Act, which addressed school safety, mental health, and gun control.
Gov. Ron DeSantis appointed Moskowitz to director of the Florida Division of Emergency Management, where he served during the height of the pandemic. Moskowitz held that position until April 2021.
In January, Desantis appointed Moskowitz to the Broward County Commission District 8 until November 2022.
In March, he announced his candidacy for Florida’s 23rd Congressional District in the House of Representatives, including Parkland and Coral Springs. Before redistricting, both cities were in the 22nd District.
Since announcing his campaign, he has received endorsements from the entire Coral Springs City Commission, Reps. Dan Daley and Christine Hunschofsky, and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.
At the Chamber’s next meeting, on Wednesday, Aug. 3, a back-to-school meeting on Zoom with city principals and School Board Member Lori Alhadeff will be held.
