The Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School Eagle Regiment celebrated its fifth consecutive grand championship victory at the Falcon Sound Invitational.
Held at Flanagan High School on October 5, Eagle Regiment director Robert Rivero told Parkland Talk the band earned the highest score of 82.25 out of 31 participating bands.

“We won by a large margin out of all the bands and performed very well,” said Rivero.
The Eagle Regiment has overcome adversity to become successful. The band missed important rehearsals because of severe weather and was displaced from its band room while undergoing renovations.
“We have high expectations for everyone in the band and talk about our expectations a lot. We don’t use excuses, and we expect everyone to show up and be prepared,” said Rivero.

The Eagle Regiment performs an intense, high-energy show called Empyrean. According to Rivero, the band members have worked hard in rehearsal to learn the show.
Their next event is the Music Performance Assessment at Cypress Bay High School on October 19. Then, they will compete at the Bands of America Preliminary Round at Camping World Stadium in Orlando. They will travel to Indianapolis in November to compete in the Bands of America Grand Nationals at Lucas Oil Stadium.
