A Parkland man faces felony charges for drugs, gun possession, and DUI after harassing a female driver who refused his advances and reported him to the police.
According to a Coral Springs Police report, on June 22, an officer responded to a DUI investigation at the Shell Gas Station located at 5966 Coral Ridge Drive.
The report indicates multiple officers arrived at the scene and observed a vehicle double-parked on the north side of the business plaza.
The driver, later identified as Nathan William Sheley, 33, of Parkland, was standing outside the vehicle and appeared unbalanced on his feet. Additional officers on the scene reported that Sheley had been slumped over the wheel of his car before they arrived.
CSPD records show the incident began earlier that evening when Sheley approached a female driver in Boca Raton, who called 911 after the interaction. The caller was on the side of the road on North State Road 7 when Sheley offered to help her fix a tarp covering the bed of her truck.
After she declined his help, the caller said he began asking her age and continued to stare at her. The caller then left the area, but Sheley followed her to a WaWa gas station and eventually to the Shell Gas Station, where she contacted the police.
In speaking with Sheley, officers immediately noticed a strong odor of alcohol, glossy eyes, droopy eyelids, and slurred speech.
An open container of Corona beer was visible in the vehicle’s cup holder, prompting a search that led to the discovery of a stockpile of additional open containers of illegal drugs, a firearm, and a large amount of ammunition.
The list of items discovered in the vehicle included two open bottles of Corona beer, one open can of White Claw, a half-empty bottle of Screwball whiskey, a clear bag containing a white powdery substance, various pills, and a Wilson Combat 9mm handgun with 149 rounds of ammunition.
The substances were later confirmed to be cocaine, amphetamine, and fentanyl.
Sheley was arrested and transported to the Broward County Main Jail, where he was later released after posting a $5,500 bond.
