Marjory Stoneman Douglas basketball teams held Senior Night on Monday and earned impressive wins in front of their home crowd.
The boys basketball team picked up their ninth win of the season on Monday, 60-54, against Pompano Beach High School.
The Eagles honored Jaheen Smith, Ben Rothenberg, Jack Servaites, Marcus Thomas, Yousuf Sajil, Matthieu Thomas, Ethan Schwartzman, Rhendell Ducatel, and Blyfield Birch.
“Last year, Jack, Ben, and Jaheem had an amazing leadership quality about them that I knew I wanted to come back to see what kind of culture we could build together, and their last year,” head coach Shaune Cannon said.
MSD is now 9-13 this year and will play J.P. Taravella in their next game on Wednesday, January 31, at 7:30 p.m. The Trojans are 14-5 this year and last played the Eagles in 2022 in a 58-55 loss.
The girls basketball team also held their Senior Night, with Stella Marvel, Muskaan Amin, and Maria Capra recognized during their 61-8 win against Pompano Beach High School. While it was Senior Day, the Eagles had a pair of underclassmen continue their terrific season. Izzie Feldman and Maddie Feldman combined for 23 points.
MSD is now 6-10 this year and will play two more games this week. They are scheduled to face Piper High School on Tuesday, January 30, at 6 p.m. before closing the regular season against J.P. Taravella on Wednesday, January 31, at 6 p.m.
