
Top High School cross country runners. {David Volz}
The Marjory Stoneman Douglas cross country team raced in the BCAA Championship on Thursday at Markham Park.
The girls’ team, led by Sophia Gentilhomme, finished in sixth place. Carolina Schwartz was next to complete the race, followed by Nia Niemal, Sparta Koumoutsakis, Cecila Gago, Olympia Koumoutsakis, and Jade Pfisngstein.
The boys team placed 13th overall, with Nolan Alva coming in seventh. Matthew Rosenberg was the next Eagle to finish, while Alexander Spadaccini, Caleb Walker, Calyx Olsen, Samuel Santiago, and Isaac Reyes raced.
At the junior varsity level, the girls’ team finished third overall, with Alexander Holmes, Alaina Alba, Mikayla Ryan, Antonella Rodriguez, Gia Capistrano, Alina Keeney, Katie Wagner, Isabella Rodriguez, and Kalli Wheeler. The boys’ team came in sixth, with Alexander Holmes, James Mills, Harry Torres, and Noah Seid.
The Eagles will not prepare for the District Championship next week before potentially having runners compete at Regionals and States.
