Marjory Stoneman Douglas girls soccer played their final game before the holiday break in the Coaches Versus Cancer matchup.
The Eagles defeated North Broward Preparatory School 4-0 on a night where players and fans donated over 100 toys to the Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital to support kids with cancer. Cardinal Gibbons and Cypress Bay High School started the night off with the first game in Parkland.
Senior Alexis Reigel scored the opening goal on an assist from Molly Conn. Layla Segelnick added a pair of goals and an assist, while Skylar Lund also scored. Kendall Slack and Neima Bien-Aime recorded points and Carly Brodsky and Ella Stevens pitched a shutout once again for the team’s sixth win of the year to remain undefeated.
“I was very proud of the team effort tonight,” said Head Coach Laura Rountree. “I thought they came out with a lot of energy and moved well off the ball and defended well collectively.”
Next, the Eagles will not play again until January 4 against Nova High School on Senior Night. The Titans come into this matchup with a 1-3-1 record and have not played the Eagles since 2014, when they lost 4-0.
