The Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School World Guard delivered a standout performance at the Winter Guard International World Championships, earning recognition among the nation’s top scholastic programs during the April 9–11 competition in Dayton, Ohio.
Under the direction of Dean Broadbent, the team advanced to the finals and secured a 12th-place finish with a score of 84.750 in the highly competitive Scholastic World class.
Reaching finals at the prestigious national event places the program among the elite in the country.
The annual WGI World Championships are considered the pinnacle of indoor color guard competition, drawing top scholastic and independent programs from across the United States.
Broadbent credited the team’s commitment and passion as key factors in the successful season.
“The World Championships were the perfect end to a season built on hard work and heart,” he said.
