The Eagle Regiment Marching Band from Marjory Stoneman Douglas seeks community support to fund their appearance at the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City and welcomes the public’s support.
This month, the Gina Rose Montalto Foundation donated $17,000, and Max and Caryn Schachter announced $25,000 from the Alex Schachter Scholarship Fund Foundation, which will be used for various band-related initiatives.
Steve Rivero and his son, Robbie, lead the Eagle Regiment’s 162 students. Steve Rivero said they are set to make history as the first Broward County marching band to ever appear at the Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade. This follows their participation in the London New Year’s Day Parade earlier this year.
The band, faculty, and family members have since been steadfastly preparing for the performance through rehearsals and extensive fundraising efforts to make the exceptional opportunity a reality.
According to representatives, The cost of travel for band members, staff, and family members may be insignificant. However, the need to invest over $100,000 in new equipment and instruments is not.
Those who wish to help the regiment make its way to New York to make their dream a reality may learn more about making donations via the school’s official webpage here.
