Work is about to get underway on the improvements to a major pump station in Parkland.
During the August 13 meeting, the commission approved a resolution to award the lowest responsive bidder, GRSC, Inc., for Ranches neighborhood drainage and pump station site improvements for a not-to-exceed amount of $1,214,347, plus an additional $110,395 for permit fees and city-authorized expenditures.
The work will include earthwork and drainage improvements associated with the clearing and grubbing, tree and vegetation removal, canal earthwork cut and fill, soil excavation, ditch bank restoration, ground cover installation, and end wall installation, according to city information.
It will also include the construction of a stormwater pump station, which will consist of an axial intake pump for maintaining canal water elevation and improving water availability for firefighting, and a stormwater outflow pump for flood protection and the construction of an emergency control structure, according to city information.
The commission also approved a resolution to award the lowest responsive bidder, MWI Corporation, for the purchase of the Ranches neighborhood stormwater pump in the amount not to exceed $313,947.
