This is a summary of crimes and other Parkland incidents through March 25, 2024, compiled through our joint effort with the Broward Sheriff’s Office to share updates with residents.
Fraud
A victim of Fraud—impersonation was reported on 03/19/2024. The reporting person contacted the Broward Sheriff’s Office, Parkland District, to file a fraud report.
Ordinance Violation
A victim of Municipal Ordinance Violation was reported on 03/20/2024. The owner of a vacant lot advised construction debris was dumped onto his property.
Theft
A victim of Theft -Bicycle on Holmberg Road was reported on 03/21/2024. The total estimated loss was $649. A 14-year-old male student stole a scooter from the bicycle rack and left it on Pine Island Road. The juvenile admitted to stealing the scooter and leaving it in the bushes by Fox Ridge. The scooter could not be located. The juvenile’s mother and the victim’s mother agreed to work it out amongst themselves.
A victim of Theft—All Other was reported on 03/23/2024. The total estimated loss was $118. The unknown suspect gained access to all of the community outdoor mail storage lockers, where all of the contents and property were removed without the owners’ permission or authority.
A victim of Theft – All Other was reported on 03/25/2024. The total estimated loss was $150. The victim wanted to report a package was taken from her locked mailbox.
A victim of Theft—Motor Vehicle Parts—was reported on 03/22/2024. The total estimated loss was $101. The tag was removed from the vehicle while the victim was shopping.
A victim of Theft—All Other was reported on 03/22/2024. The victim alleged fraudulent charges were made on his Wells Fargo and Capital One credit cards. The victim previously provided his credit card information to the alleged suspect to settle a debt.
Information
A victim of Information was reported on 03/21/2024. A call to the abuse hotline was made after concerns were raised about a juvenile’s health.
Information
A victim of Information was reported on 03/24/2024. The reporting person advised that a group of male juveniles were hanging around the clubhouse after closing. The security guard advised them to leave, at which point one of the juveniles flashed his buttocks at her.
Arrests
Mouritzen, Glenn Lionel, 57, was arrested on a charge of Battery-Touch Or Strike on 03/23/2024.
