Through our joint effort with the Broward Sheriff’s Office to share updates with residents, this is a summary of crimes and other Parkland incidents through February 12, 2024.
Information
A victim of sextortion was reported on 02/06/2024. The victim advised an unknown individual contacted him via email and then sent a text message about exposing his “dirty little secrets” unless he paid a $5,000 ransom.
Burglary
K. Hovnanian Homes was the victim of a Burglary of Building/Structure, which was reported on 02/06/2024. The total estimated loss was $700. The unknown suspects removed a GE dishwasher machine from the location, which is a construction site. The total value is $700. The home was locked and secured.
A victim of Burglary Conveyance was reported on 02/10/2024. An unknown male subject was observed on RING home security cameras attempting to gain access to the victim’s BMW and KIA cars parked in the driveway. The suspect tried the door handles to those cars and found them to be locked before disappearing into the darkness. No physical evidence was observed on the cars.
A victim of Burglary Conveyance was reported on 02/11/2024. The total estimated loss was $40. An adult female reported that her blue Mercedes was ransacked, and $40 in cash was stolen from the center console while it was left unlocked.
Theft
Wawa was the victim of Theft – Retail / Shoplifting, which was reported on 02/12/2024. The total estimated loss was $18. An adult female reported that an unknown male came into the store and stole two cases of beer.
