By Ryan Yousefi
Calling all middle school kids interested in spending a few days learning more about music this summer, a local school has just the camp for you.
With the summer quickly approaching, Westglades Middle School has announced registration for its music camp is now open for rising 5th-8th graders with a passion for music.
Westglades Summer Music Camp will take place at the school located at 11000 Holmberg Road from June 12-15 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
The camp will conclude with a grand finale camper concert on June 15 at 2:00 p.m.
The camp is open to all students – regardless if they are attending a private school, public school, or homeschooled – and no prior music knowledge is required to attend.
Westglades Music Camp will offer attendees an opportunity to learn the basics of the art of music from experienced instructors and discover which instruments they’re most interested in. Loaner instruments will be available to campers as needed.
Last year, students enjoyed learning the in’s and out’s of playing instruments such as the flute, oboe, saxophone, bass, tuba, trumpet, bassoon, cello, and more.
To attend, parents must fill out the Westglades Music Camp registration form before the beginning of camp. The fee for the camp is $300, which includes lunch each day.
For those who prefer to pay for their child’s camp experience via Zelle, Westglades accepts registration fees sent to WGMSBandPayment@gmail.com.
Payments via Zelle must include the student’s name and subject, “Summer Music Camp.” Checks for registration fees may be made out to Westglades Band Boosters.
