A woman who was denied entry to the upscale MiraLago community in Parkland on Friday subsequently punched a security guard, according to residents.
Broward Sheriff’s Office Parkland District deputies responded to the scene of the alleged battery at 10450 MiraLago Drive in Parkland around 5:13 p.m., according to BSO.
Deputies spoke with a person—identified by residents as a security guard—who said an unidentified man and woman had arrived in a vehicle to deliver food. The person turned them away because the male driver did not have identification, the person told BSO.
An argument ensued, and the woman punched the person in the face, deputies said. The man and woman then left the area.
The person who was punched was treated on the scene by paramedics. BSO declined to say whether the person who was punched was a security guard.
No additional details were made public, including any surveillance footage from the scene.
In response to a records request for footage of the incident, BSO’s Digital Evidence Unit told Parkland Talk:
“As this is a recent criminal investigation, it is exempt and the victim has requested confidentiality. Further, please be advised that your request includes surveillance footage. Recent changes to Florida [public records law] have made this footage exempt from release to anyone other than the property owner.”
In 2021, a homeowner in Cascata was arrested and charged with burglary and battery after striking a security guard.
BSO detectives are investigating the incident and ask anyone with information to call Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS.
