Somerset Parkland Academy drama students are set to host a production of DreamWorks Madagascar – A Musical Adventure JR.
Two production performances are scheduled at the Coral Springs Center for the Arts. On February 7, a show will take place for students on school field trips, and a February 8 show will be open to the public.
The Somerset Academy production, directed by Andrew Ramsarran, Executive Director of Invision Theatre and Artistic Director of Standing Ovation, and Musical Director Nicole Dikun, is part of the school’s quest to inspire creativity in students and reinvigorate arts education not just at Somerset Academy but for those students who take in the show on a field trip or during the general admission show.
The musical, featuring original music and lyrics by George Noriega and Joel Someillan and a book by Kevin Del Aguila, tells the story of Marty the zebra, Alex the lion, Gloria the hippo, and Melman the giraffe.
Marty’s longing for adventure beyond the walls of the Central Park Zoo sets the group on a journey from New York City to the wilds of Madagascar. Along the way, the friends learn valuable lessons about friendship, self-discovery, and belonging.
